pre-combine mock draft (for madden!!!)

Post by bigbuddah on Thu Feb 17, 2011 2:58 am

the nfl combine for me is like the superbowl part 2. i get my popcorn, pepsi, pen and paper ready to site and watch the whole thing. the draft is a suspenseful event like if i were watching the transformers 2 for the first time. last season when the cowboys drafted dez i cried like i did when optimus prime died (dont judge me). anyways man i got all off topic, this is my mock draft for the first 10 teams as if i where a gm drafting for madden purposes only not the real thing. so no olinemen in this thing. this is 1-10 for right now the rest will come later just want to get something started.

here we go! ( cracked open a bud light)

1. car - wr A.J. Green - with so many problems and DT being 1 of them a bigger hole is at wr. aj green will help take pressure off of carolina users in trying to find a way to get steve smith the ball.

2. den - DT Nick Fairley - playing with denver you will notice alot of holes also but you can win games defensively. Nick Fairley in a 3-4 system will plug up the run game. you could go patrick peterson here but i think fairley can be just as dominate because they already have 3 good corners.

3. buf - QB Cam Newton - from what im hearing the head coach of buffalo is an offensive guy. That being said, madden wise cj spiller and cam newton with those wr's and that defense you can do work. they could go DE after releasing marcus stroud but why pass up on cam newton when all u can do is insert maybin down there even if he isnt a 3-4 end. i personally wouldn't

4. cin - QB Blaine Gabbert - with Carson wanting out or retiring i believe its going to happen. TO isnt coming back and they may lose ocho as well. that being said, you have to go qb here.

5. ari - DT Marcel Darius - the problem with the cards is the front 7. i honestly think that they get either vince or mcnabb this off season. Darius will help stop the run so their lb's can flow better.

6. cle - DE De'Quan Bowers - Too many holes on this team but starting at the foundations wont hurt. losing the D. coordinator to the cowboys, the browns will transition back to a 4-3 defense and you need a beast at the end position.

7. sf - CB Patrick Peterson - i know right, super late BUT this is the area they need. In the real draft prince nakumura probably goes here. the niners are solid up front with fast backers and offensively are very usable.

8. ten - QB Ryan Mallett - the titans are stout on defense and very old and young at the qb position. with vince gone you need someone to hand the ball off to the baddest man in the land and throw it deep to randy moss and kenny britt. mallett has a good arm and has great accuracy.

9. dal - CB Prince Nakumara - with all the offensive play makers you need the boys dont have any defense. they shouldnt have this pick but since they do it is a good spot to sure up the secondary. with the best safety going a little later in the draft get the 2nd best corner available here because it seems as tho mike jenkins has played his way on to the bench. insert sean lee at middle backer instead of brooking and you good.

10. was - LB Von Miller - the skins aeem to always be 1 player away. since speed is everything in madden move buchanon to #2 corner. von miller on the opposite side of orakpo....ARE U SERIOUS??? run the 3-4 system and blitz like hell and watch the fireworks.

***Thats all for now folks. i will be working on 11-20 tomorrow. i thought about putting this on youtube as there isnt anything like this on there but that takes way to much time honestly and doing this list of 10 took me about an hr or so. feel free to put your own down here as i may be wrong or you opinion is different. seems like a great topic.***

11. hou - S Rahim Moore - the texans are a product of having a decent season with the players they have. meaning they are out of position to get a good player that will help their roster in the area they need it in. i think they should go corner but do u want 2 very young guys at corner in the national football league. hell even on madden. Rahim Moore is the best safety coming out and they do need safety help.

12. min - CB Jimmy Smith - the vikings do need a qb but for viking users you use them for AP. deal with jackson for a season but they do need cb help with their front 7 beingt stout. they could go DT as well with the suspsensions. to kevin and pat williams.

13. det - DE Adrian Clayborn - Looking at their roster the D line is missing 1 DE. Clayborn is as relentless of a pass rusher and player as Suh is so he will fit the defensive personality very well and help the back end of that defense.

14. stl - WR Julio Jones - i think this is were he will go in the actual draft as well. no brainer here they need wr help.

15. mia - RB Mark Ingram - Ive heard he is going here in the real draft as well but i believe they should go OLB or wr and take ole boy from maryland the wr. i dont like him here but if ricky is out why not.

16. jac - DE Robert Quinn - the jags lack offense but also lack defense. tey need an edge rusher in the 4-3 scheme to help pass rush that will help the back end. Robert Quinn will be the lightning on the other side of Kampman who is the thunder.

17. NE (from oakland) - DE J.J. Wyatt - you put a guy with a huge motor next to wilfork will help the pats. the pats aren't much of a blitzing team out of the 3-4 defense but with the speed they have u might be able to do a little blitzing. a d line that can hold o linemen to let the backers flow to the ball is the goal of the pats with that young secondary. they can also go OLB here as well.

18. SD - S Ahmad Black - looking at this team its hard to analyze because they had the leagues best defense for awhile but it doesnt translate to madden. They could go DT here and get that big boy from baylor but it may be a stretch. a ball hawking safety is good for them. they have interchangeable backers and with v.jax franchised all you need is him and gates.

19. NYG - WR Justin Blackman - a guy who is 6'2'' or 6'3'' built like dez bryant and built like hakim nicks will transform this team. put steve smith in the slot where he belongs and this is a dangerous team again on the offensive end of the ball. we all know the giants have defense and they shouldnt go defense here.

20. TB - Ryan Kerrigan - With the bucs find offense a glaring hole when u look at this roster is at end. you can deal with everything else. you can play small ball here line up in big run sets and throw to the wrs and TE who have some size and big backs that fall forward but are hard to get them going first.

21. KC - OLB Justin Houston - They need a replacement for Vrabel. They are solid up front and in secondary now.

22. IND - CB Aaron Williams - colts have decent backers and good safeties regardless if they released bob sanders just now. The colts front 4 is now scary with a good DT they have now.

23. PHI - DT Phil Taylor - I dont think a young LB or corner is what the eagles need. a strong DT next to strong broderick bunkley will plug up the run and let these young backers run around.

24. NO - Kelvin Sheppard - I've been waiting to have him come off the board. i think he has good upside and is a true OLB not just a rush specialist.

25. SEA - DE Cameron Heyward - probably the worst team to make the playoffs. I chose Heyward because they have young wrs decent backers and secondary.

26. BAL - S Quintin Carter - a team that doesn't need anything as far as i can see. how about grooming a safety who can possibly replace Ed Reed in a year or 2 when he retires.

27. ATL - DT Marvin Austin - Falcons could use some CB help but there are no more corners left that are 1st round worthy. surprised he slipped this far but they could use stud DT.

28. NE - Casey Matthews - huge stretch here but they may catch lightning in a bottle here. same playing style as clay matthews and same body build. with 2 picks in the 1st round they can afford to make this stretch.

29. NYJ - WR Jonathan Baldwin - he fits the diva personality of the Jets not to mention he is 6'4''. a big target for inaccurate Sanchez. They probably will be without holmes next year.

30. CHI - WR Tori Gurley - Im 100% stumped on this pick but i know 100% fact they will go o line in the draft. Since i don't do that i dont like their cb's but you can play zone with anybody plus all good corners so far pre-combine are gone. I say Tori Gurley give them a big body to go to besides greg olsen. I've seen Gurley's game and he will be nice in madden.

31. GB - OLB Jeremy Beal - another pure OLB but can pass rush. Super Bowl winner with a very complete team. I wanted to give them a RB but Jamees Starks killed that dream.

32. PIT - CB Jason Teague - surprise pick here jus like ziggy hood was year before last. Ive seen Jason Teauge play and he is better than William Gay which means he will be better than Bryant Mcfadden. Besides o line what do you give a team like the steelers who have everything already. tough tough pick.

***pre-combine list right here. im probably wrong in alot of areas i ran out of players but after the draft ill have a better picture of alot of picks.

I really think denver is going to take the best available player at the 2 spot. in addition, the contract talks with champ have gone south and he recently put his house in denver up for sell, I see denver taking P. Patterson at the 2 spot. His size and athleticism is unbelievable. However, taking a DB this high has disaster written all over it. Typically because it takes DB's longer to transition from the college to pro game. And the retard part is, no matter who you have in the secondary, if there is zero pass rush, your secondary essentially does not exist.. So, P.Patterson will get exposed do to lack in pass rush

Yea I agree on the champ thing and the denver taking best available...first 5 picks will do that in the real draft. As for madden tho we don't deal with that stuff. I dnt think its as heated as the carson palmer situation. I think champ will still be there denver has gooden. So 2 90+ speed 90+ mcv corners u gotta go d line here I think jus for madden. I kno if we are drafting a 6'2" corner with atleasr 80 mcv and peterson will probably have 96 speed who wouldn't take em 1st overall..jus needs tho

Yeah it's because the Cheifs haven't been relevant in like 15 years.

Ha I beg to differ sir. Back in the earlier 2000s when we had Priest Holmes and the first few years of Larry Johnson. And I think last year they were pretty damn good Smile.

Yeah...but it's not so bad since we're the only capable team in our division. DEFINITELY not as bad as having Tim Tebow or Orton as your options for a franchise QB.

Ha! Erin Andrews is more likely to lead a team to a superbowl than Tim Tebow...especially a team like the Broncos.

I think I want the Titans to take Lockler. The stock marketesque rise and fall of draftees is absurd in my opinion. The guy played in a pro-style offense (so he will probably be more NFL ready now) and would have been one of the top picks if he came out last year.

And I think Rivers is a great QB even though I hate him. If they didn't fire Schottenheimer the Chargers may have won a Super Bowl already. And I think the Bronco's personel is in a bit of disarray but I think John Fox is a great coach so I'm sure they will be on track before too long.
