Im Curious . . .

Post by sickxstick- on Thu Dec 30, 2010 5:45 pm

Why is it people complain about stupid things.

I dont rollout but seriously watch the NFL, you see rollouts all the time. Madden doesnt put rollouts on the game because you can rollout on your own.

if its not cheating and its something that happens in the NFL, WHY REGULATE IT. Now running straight backwards after the snap is fake. but hot routing your WRs to flow to one side and its a rollout of your own, as long as its horizontal rollout and not a straight back and spin throw (Which is retarded, but alot of people do it) That should be legit.

As long as someone follows the rules and is playing legit why regulate their game to a T.

If my memory serves me correct this rule was in place because someone played GREENERRR and the guy was making you cover either a WR or a QB.

If i make a user catch by throwing to the endzone and get position on the ball and a 6'4 WR jumps up and make a SPECTACULAR catch, the first thing its called is an RC. But really its not. Why do you think theres a SPC CTH Attribute. EA puts animations on the game to make SPECTACULAR catches, You just hold the triangle button down. if i make a user play you must stepup (take the titty out of your mouth) and make a user play.

Im not bitching, or bad mouthing anyone specific but my name isn't just SICKSTICK for no meaning im an ALL USER guy. I dont like the cpu controlling anything.

unavoidable consequence of the game

Post by mblammers on Thu Dec 30, 2010 7:06 pm

This is one of the natural tensions that arise from a game that doesn't deliver what it promises ("it's in the game") and a user base that expects more than is delivered.
Because EA has produced a game that has SO many glitches and programming errors in it, legit players assume that when someone does something well that is hard to prevent, it must be EA's fault; and we must regulate it.
Regardless of the issue: IOR, 4th down, RC, Fg D, crossing routes, etc. etc.... There are legitimate points on both sides:

1. EA needs to produce a sim game that doesn't reward non-sim behaviour

2. Users need to realize that there is a certain amount of video game skill required to perform at a high level.

I personally need to follow number 2 more: I haven' put in the amount of requisite time to build my user skills so that I can be competitive without relying on artificial rules.

Many people rely so much on the bullshit programming that they exploit a game which rewards unrealistic football stratagy and playcalling.

It is hard to find a happy medium between the two. What is one guys skill is another guys cheeze. I think we all need to keep pressuring EA and the NFL and NFLPA to let open competition enter the realm of NFL video games while at the same time keep an honest eye on those tactics that blur the line between stick skills and exploitation.

I guess what I'm saying here is that people who have stick skills need to realize that they aren't that special; it is possible that they are good at something that is merely a video game glitch and not a unique user "skill".
At the same time, those of us who pride ourselves on being strict "sim" players need to keep in mind that this is, in the end, a video game... either get better at it, or play something else.

Actually most roll outs in the NFL are off the play action and they are in the game. If you sprinted out of the pocket under no pressure from the very beginning of the play to get a better angle for that spectacular catch then its against the rule , if you started the play and nothing was open and gradually moved out of the pocket or broke the pocket under pressure then its straight.

well said blammers, and from our game i wouldn't say your exactly behind in the skills department within the realm of sim. and thats what its about, trying to stay within maddens world of sim play...which as we know takes effort and moral restraint. someone who can play the lb or safety position realistically, and be successful with user picks and defense or making timed spin/stiff arm moves through a hole and having patience to follow blocks is my definition of stick skill. rolling out to throw the ball behind a deep crossing out and hitting down and triangle to initiate the spec catch over a defenseless db (doesn't matter what the db's rating is) doesn't exactly cut it as being 'skilled'. vision on the field in respect to the play development is what i look for.

Our rule doesnt restrict guys from ROLLING OUT - what it does do is PREVENT GUYS FRoM SPRINTING OUT OF THE POCKET directly after THE SNAP FOR THE EXCLUSIVE PURPOSE OF AVOIDING ANY TYPE OF PASS RUSH (regardless of pressure - its done IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE SNAP - anbd is run to the extreme sidloine!)...

IF u rollout just past D gap - NOBODY IS GOING TO complain - BUT IF U SNAP THE BALL AND RUN DIRECTLY TO THE SIDELINES (to avoid any type of pass rush and give your QB an obscene amount of time to throw) THAN heave tHE ball downfield - THATS ABSURD - and that what the rule is targeting...

The unfortuante trhink is taht guys sometimes can differentiate between a LEGITIMATE ROLLOUT and a BOGUS ROLLOUT...
Deathwish runs a great lil roll out / qqb waggle in 1 of his key plays he beat me with - (he essentially createws A 3 MAN GAME - where u have to decide on covering a player running a crossing route or flag, a guy doing an out or the QB rolling out and scrambling... Its cakll the 3 man game because if u catch a guy in zone - generally there is only 2 guys covering 3 men - if u for the qb and cover the cross - he throws to the out... if u cover the out and force the qb HE THROWS TO THE crossing route/flag... if u cover the cross/flag and the out and dont force tghe Qb TO THROW THE ball - THE QB RUNS FOR EASY YARDS... (2 man games can be done as well minus the flag/crossing route) -

tHIS SI A FUNDEMENMTAL TACTIC TAUGHT as a basic read for all QBs form peewee to the pros... but i can see how if u didnt understand the rule - U MAY THINKL HE IS BREAKING IT - which he is in no way doing so... unfortunately players who may know the game a lil more than less experienced players - may be PAINTED AS CHEATERS IN THSI RULE UNJUSTLY - not sure what the solution is...

I kinda disagree hwith you mblammers ving good stick skills do make you good your playing a game. Theres the playcalling aspect which matters but when playing madden you control people execution like in real life beats playcalling everytime. FF is great at playing as his LB he makes plays all the the time that the cpu wouldn't make thats not poor programing that good 2skills if the cpu played like FF does with all 11 defenders there would be no need to play just pick a play sit and watch the cpu play D like some people do and we would be playing NFL Head Coach not Madden if all 11 defenders play any better im not sure how most guys would even complete a pass other than checking down to RB 80% of the time in which half the league allready do. SickxStick i user catch all my passes and while i dont RC i get plenty of complaints

CP, I don't really think you're disagreeing with me at all. I don't think that having user skills makes you cheesy. I think I said as much in my post.
In fact, it was after playing you that I realized that I need to improve my stick skills. When I take control of my receiver, I eff it up 6 out of ten times, so I'm hesitant to try it. There is no question that my lack of user skills right now puts me at a competitive disadvantage against guys who have put in the time to get good at it.
However, you have to admit that there ARE simple exploits in the game that DON'T take a bunch of skill, and ARE cheesy. I'm not going to take the time to list them all, but this thread was begun with a comment about the QB rollout. I have a feeling you aren't claiming that sprinting out of the pocket while waiting for a receiver to break free deep is some kind of unique "skill" - You wouldn' be in a sim league like this if you did.
